Saturday – Arrival Day – anytime in the afternoon, Dinner will be served at 6pm. Registration – Welcome
Sunday – Tour of White River – Artist Exhibit (Show and Sale) at the Legion and each Artist will give a brief talk about what they will be doing in their workshops during the week.
Mon – Fri – See Daily Schedule Tab – all the people registered for workshops will be divided into 4 groups so that workshops will be more manageable with smaller groups. The Watercolour, Writing, Pottery Demos, Photography and Soapstone Carving Workshops are happening simultaneously for the 3-4 hours either in the afternoon or morning, and each group will rotate through the workshops through the week, so each day you will participate in one workshop and a different workshop each day for a total of 5.
The Nature Walks will be partnered with a different Workshop each day, so two groups will be out on the nature walk while the other two groups are in the workshop, then they will switch for the other half of either the morning or afternoon, depending on the day. The nature walks, have been set up so that throughout the week each group will have been out at a different time each day covering all the different light etc. situations. Don and Jorge are the photographers and will take turns with the different groups so that each group will have benefit of each of these two photographers experience and teachings.
Nature Walks consist of Plant Identification, gathering of materials such as leaves for teas and lip balm, willow or dogwood branches for basket making, diamond willow branch for walking or talking stick birch bark for cup/bowl and spoon craft etc. and possibly mushrooms and cattails, or other edible plants that can be used in meals. During these walks the photographers will also be teaching and pictures taken for use in the photography or water colour workshops.
Two of our guest artists are from the Missanabie Cree First Nation and they will be sharing Native Teachings with the Group during the week.
From 6:30 – 8:30 each the Artists will do a talk and question period for 1 hr. about their work/experience etc., so two artists/evening
Campfire – will have someone to play the guitar and have songbooks available for sing-along. Guests who play musical instruments are encouraged to bring them along to play at the campfire.
Saturday – Morning – set up display of all work created during the week and then White River and surrounding community residents will be invited out to Crocker Lake to view the exhibit in the afternoon and a community bar-b-q will follow along with a campfire sing-along and fireworks (tentatively).
